Four players scored in double figures to lead Drake to the upset victory over Creighton, 74-69, at home Wednesday night.
Drake withstood 19 points from Player of the Year candidate Doug McDermott to hold off the No. 17 Creighton Bluejays, 74-69, Wednesday night at home.
Four players scoring in double figures fueled the win for Drake, led by 20 points from Richard Carter. Daddy Ugbede (12 points), Jeremy Jeffers (11) and Ben Simons (13) also helped the Bulldogs to the upset victory.
Drake led, 44-28, at halftime and withstood a late charge from Creighton to hold on. Grant Gibbs scored 18 points and dished out eight assists in the losing effort.
With the win, Drake is now 9-10 and has won three out of four since losing four straight, including a 30-point loss on the road to Creighton. The Bluejays are now 17-3 and have lost the first two games of their three-game road trip.
