The Richmond Spiders upset the No. 19 VCU Rams, 86-74, on Thursday night at the Robins Center in Richmond, Va., after overcoming a seven-point deficit with 37 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Richmond dominated the extra period, outscoring the Rams, 17-5. That came after VCU embarked on a 21-4 second-half run to turn an eight-point deficit into a late three-possession lead. However, Richmond miraculously scored 13 points in a 33-second span to tie the game.
Kendall Anthony accounted for six of those points, then added another nine in the overtime period. He finished with 26 points off the bench for the Spiders (13-7), while Darien Brothers pitched in 18.
