The Tigers have been without their leading scorer for the past five games. That will change on Wednesday night as Bowers makes a return to the court.
The Missouri Tigers really hit the skids after losing senior forward Laurence Bowers to a sprained right knee earlier in January. Bowers has missed the last five games, which saw the Tigers go 3-2. Fortunately for coach Frank Haith, Bowers is expected to return this week.
According to Doug Gottlieb of CBS Sports, Bowers will play on Wednesday night as Missouri hits the road to take on LSU. It is unclear if he will immediately return to the starting lineup or come off the bench, but his impact will be felt regardless.
On the season, Bowers is averaging a team-high 16.8 points and nearly seven rebounds a game.
The Tigers, 4-2 in SEC play, are not out of the running for a conference title, although they have some work to do if they hope to catch the Florida or Ole Miss at the top of the standings.
In the latest edition of Bracketology, Chris Dobbertean has Mizzou down to a seven-seed in the West region. Bowers' return to the court should only help MU's chances moving forward as March Madness draws near.
