In a battle of two teams fighting for the Big Ten title, the Buckeyes came out on top thanks to a big rally in the second half.
The Ohio St. Buckeyes came out a little sloppy on Tuesday night, but a big second half rally propelled them to a 58-49 win over the Wisconsin Badgers at Value City Arena. Ohio State is now 6-2 in Big Ten play, while Wisconsin dropped to 5-3.
The game was closely contested until midway through the second half. Ohio State then went on a 13-0 run, led by a couple impressive drives from Deshaun Thomas. The Badgers attempted to come back, but their efforts eventually fell short on the road.
For a team that has shot the ball well for most of the year, Wisconsin hit just 36.5 percent of their shot attempts in Columbus.
Thomas led Ohio State with 25 points and four assists. Aaron Craft added in 13 points while playing his customary stifling defense. No other Buckeyes reached double figures in scoring, although LaQuinton Ross scored eight points in limited time off the bench.
Traevon Jackson led Wisconsin with just 12 points. Jared Berggren had 11 points and nine rebounds.
The biggest differential in the game was at the free throw line. The Buckeyes went 9-for-12, while Wisconsin did not attempt a single shot from the charity stripe.
