No. 23 Minnesota vs. Nebraska final score: Golden Gophers end skid with 84-65 win

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota cruised to a blowout victory despite Ray Gallegos' 30 points.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers let some frustration out on Tuesday night, defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers by a score of 84-65 After dropping their last four conference games, the win temporarily stopped the bleeding for coach Tubby Smith and his team.

The Gophers controlled the game from the tip. They moved out to a double-digit lead early in the second half and never looked back. As a team, Minnesota shot 54 percent from the field, made 16 of their 22 free throw attempts and out-rebounded Nebraska, 34-17.

Rodney Williams led Minnesota with 23 points and seven rebounds. Andre Hollins had 14 points, while Austin Hollins chipped in with 13. A total of 12 players scored for the Golden Gophers on Tuesday night.

The only reason Nebraska was able to keep it somewhat close was the performance of Ray Gallegos and his 30 points. Brandon Ubel had 13 points in limited action, but foul trouble kept him on the bench for most of the game.
