No. 10 Gonzaga opened West Coast Conference play with a road win at Pepperdine.
It may not have been their best performance of the season, but No. 10 Gonzaga picked up a road win against Pepperdine on Thursday, knocking off the Waves 78-62.
Gonzaga led by four points at halftime and trailed in the second half, but the Bulldogs were able to take the lead for good midway through the half and build a double-digit lead. Pepperdine hung around throughout the second half, but was never able to string together baskets and seriously threaten the Bulldogs.
Kelly Olynyk and Elias Harris led the way for the Bulldogs. Harris finished with 18 points and seven rebounds while Olynyk scored 16 points. The Gongaza frontcourt was key as the Bulldogs' guards struggled. Kevin Pangos made just 2 of 9 shots while Gary Bell Jr. shot just 1 of 7 from the floor.
Jordan Baker scored 15 points while Lorne Jackson led Pepperdine with 16 points off the bench. While Pepperdine outrebounded the Bulldogs 29-27, the Waves made just 2 of 12 three-point attempts.
