Hairston suffered a concussion Tuesday night against Boston College and was taken off the court on a stretcher.
With about four minutes left in the first half, North Carolina Tar Heels guard P.J. Hairston had dropped 14 points against the Boston College Eagles Tuesday night. But a mid-air collision between teammate Dexter Strickland's elbow and Hairston's head left him on the floor for several minutes, eventually being carted off. Hairston was diagnosed with a concussion and will likely miss North Carolina's next game against Virginia Tech.

Hairston had caught fire lately, averaging almost a point a minute in his last three games, including 19 points in 17 minutes against the North Carolina St. Wolfpack. Hairston's 12.4 points per game average was good for third on the team.
The news isn't all bad for North Carolina fans. Although Hairston will probably be sidelined Saturday, the Tar Heels will likely get Leslie McDonald back. McDonald has missed the last three games because of a suspension related to academic issues. He'd missed the four games prior to his suspension because of a knee injury.
