College basketball scores: Kansas, Kentucky roll

Jamie Squire

Joel Embiid's stock continues to rise, as his 17 points and eight rebounds led the Jayhawks past the Hoyas.

In a statement win for Kansas, the Jayhawks rolled against Georgetown in Allen Fieldhouse, 86-64. Tarik Black matched Joel Embiid's 17 points for Kansas, both getting to the line consistently against an overmatched Hoyas team.

Georgetown opened the contest a game opponent, with Joshua Smith providing an inside presence and Markel Starks hitting three three-pointers in the first half. But after leading 24-23 with under eight minutes to go in the opening period, the Hoyas allowed Kansas to go on a 21-10 run to end the half.

The Jayhawks were able to get to the free throw line at will, hitting 31 of their 46 attempts. Embiid led the way with 12 trips to the line, sinking nine. Three Hoyas -- including Joshua Smith -- fouled out of the game, with two Georgetown players finishing the game with four fouls.

No. 19 Kentucky 93, Belmont 80

Julius Randle continued his dominant play, scoring 29 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against Belmont. The Wildcats were down by two to start the second half, but Randle and fellow freshman Aaron Harrison lit up the scoreboard in the late going. Harrison had 23 points, with 18 coming in the second half. Belmont relied on its three-point shooting to make it a game, hitting 11 of 30 attempts from deep. Craig Bradshaw had 22 and Drew Windler had 21 for the Bruins.

Florida State 60, No. 22 UMass 55

The Seminoles handed UMass its first loss of the season behind 18 points from Aaron Thomas. Florida State was able to make the game ugly, limiting the skill set of Minutemen superstar Chaz Williams. The 5'9, lightning-quick guard had just 10 points and two assists, well below his season averages. UMass also missed all but one of its 15 three-point attempts, allowing the Seminoles to use their half-court offense to grind out a win. Okaro White had 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting for Florida State.
