In a battle of two SEC teams likely headed to the NCAA Tournament, it was Mizzou that came away with the big victory in Columbia.
Mizzou trailed by double-digits midway through the second half. A hot shooting performance led by Laurence Bowers brought the Tigers back into the game in the final minutes. Then, with 2:51 remaining, MU took the lead on a Phil Pressey layup.
Bowers hit a jumper with 1:19 left to give his team the 61-60 edge. Florida would miss its next two shot attempts. Keion Bell secured a rebound for the Tigers, and then hit two free throws to go up 63-60 with three seconds on the clock. Mike Rosario got a decent look from the corner for the Gators, but his shot sailed long as the buzzer sounded.
Bowers, who missed the first meeting between these two teams, led the Tigers with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Pressey made a couple of poor decisions down the stretch but still managed to score seven points and dish out 10 assists.
