Sean Kilpatrick and Cashmere Wright led the Bearcats to a 16-7 run to close out the first half, and Kilpatrick's onslaught of three-pointers helped Cincinnati begin the second half on a 15-0 tear and take a 48-28 lead with 15:08 remaining.
From there, Seton Hall embarked on a 20-4 run of its own, using nine points from Fuquan Edwin to get to within four points of the Bearcats, at 52-48, and had a chance to get closer. However, the Pirates went cold, making just one field goal in an eight-minute span down the stretch, while Cincinnati converted on free throws and got a big three-pointer out of Kilpatrick to break a 10-minute field goal drought of its own and extended its lead in the process.
