No. 19 Memphis vs. Xavier final score: Musketeers upset Tigers, 64-62

The Xavier Musketeers desperately needed to add a couple of signature wins to their resume if they hoped to return to the NCAA Tournament this March. On Tuesday night, XU did just that, knocking off No. 19 Memphis by a score of 64-62 at the Cintas Center.

Xavier led by double-digits early in the second half, but an impressive run from Memphis made things interesting late.

With just two seconds remaining on the clock, Memphis' D.J. Stephens went to the line with the Tigers down 64-61. Stephens sunk the first free throw and then intentionally missed the second. Xavier was able to secure the rebound though, sealing a big Atlantic 10 win for coach Chris Mack and his program.

Travis Taylor led the Musketeers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Philmore added 15 points and six rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Semaj Christon delivered a well-rounded performance with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Geron Johnson had a team-high 14 points for the Tigers. Joe Jackson struggled shooting the ball and finished with just 11 points. Coach Josh Pastner will look at his team going 6-for-17 from the charity stripe and really wonder what could've happened if his team hit their free throws down the stretch.
