Virginia freshman Mike Tobey has provided a spark off the bench during the Cavaliers' recent run of success, but the big man won't be available for a few games while recovering from mono.

Virginia Cavaliers big man Mike Tobey missed the team's game against Clemson on Thursday with mononucleosis and will be out indefinitely, according to CBS Sports' Jeff Goodman.

Tobey, a freshman out of Monroe, N.Y., played for just nine minutes in the Cavaliers' loss to Georgia Tech on Sunday. However he was a force off the bench in the three games prior to that. In wins over Virginia Tech, Boston College and NC State, Tobey averaged 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while hitting 68 percent of his shots.

For the season, Tobey is averaging 6.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 19 points in a 74-39 victory over Wofford on Dec. 30.

Virginia wasn't affected by Tobey's absence on Thursday as the Cavaliers routed Clemson, 78-41.
