Big East Tournament 2013 bracket: Georgetown advances to semis

After knocking off Cincinnati, top-seeded Georgetown will face the winner of a tough game between Syracuse and Pitt in the Big East semifinals Friday evening.

With a win over Cincinnati, Georgetown is on to the Big East semifinals, putting them just two wins away from one last championship in the current iteration of the Big East.

Georgetown was up 24-8 on Cincinnati, but Cashmere Wright and JaQuon Parker got hot to take a 33-31 lead just after the start of the second half. John Thompson III's squad regrouped, though, putting everything together and eventually coming away with an easy 19-point win.

Things will get tougher for Georgetown: next up for them is the winner of the Syracuse-Pittsburgh game. The Hoyas beat Syracuse twice, once behind a clutch 33-point performance from Otto Porter, and once in a 61-39 romp in their regular season finale. Pitt's a little bit scary for Georgetown, as the Panthers murdered Georgetown, 73-45, at the Verizon Center, holding the Hoyas to 13-for-37 shooting from the floor.

As for the Bearcats, they must now wait until Selection Sunday. They're likely safe, but a win today would have made them a sure tourney team. Instead, they could lose their spot to bid thieves in other conferences.
