ACC tournament bracket update: NC State, Boston College moving on

We recap the morning action from the first round of the ACC tournament.

The 2013 ACC tournament officially kicked off on Thursday morning. Two games are in the books already, and two more will be played later in the evening. There aren't a lot of big name teams involved yet, but some entertaining basketball was still played. Let's take a look at the morning games:

No. 8 Boston College Eagles 84, No. 9 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 64

This game was the Olivier Hanlan Show. The freshman lit up the scoreboard with 41 points, the most in ACC tourney history since 1970. Joe Rahon chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds. The Yellow Jackets were a sieve on defense, allowing the Eagles to make 14-of-24 three-point shots. Boston College will face Miami in the quarterfinals on Friday.

No. 5 N.C. State Wolfpack 80, No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies 63

N.C. State had little trouble taking care of the Hokies, scoring 52.8 percent of their field goals and dominating the glass with 36 rebounds compared to Virginia Tech's 21. Richard Howell led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds, getting his 17th double-double of the season. Lorenzo Brown was the big mailman, racking up 12 assists in addition to his nine points. The Wolfpack will take on Virginia on Friday.

Here's the rest of Thursday's ACC slate:

-No. 7 Maryland Terrapins vs. No. 10 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (7 p.m. ET, ESPNU)

-No. 6 Florida State Seminoles vs. No. 11 Clemson Tigers (9:30 p.m. ET, ESPNU)
