The No. 1 seed in the East is Indiana, which will have to go through a regional final in Washington, DC in order to get to the Final Four.
The 2013 NCAA Tournament's East Regional will be held in Washington, DC at the Verizon Center. It's a regional site with a bit of history, as the last time the big dance visited that venue, Jim Larranaga and the George Mason Patriots earned a trip to the Final Four -- the first mid-major to crash that party before Butler earned back-to-back trips. Larranaga will have a shot to earn his second trip to the Final Four in DC, but this time he'll be leading the No. 2 seeded Miami Hurricanes.
Another quirk in the East is the first round game between Cal and UNLV, which is a rematch from the regular season. Regular season rematches are not supposed to happen in the first round, so it will be interesting to hear the committee articulate their reasoning for putting those two teams together in the first weekend pod.
The No. 1 overall seed in the East is Indiana, which was bumped out of the local Indianapolis regional by the Louisville Cardinals. Rick Pitino's team likely earned the No. 1 overall seed this weekend with their Big East Tournament championship, while the Hoosiers were knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament semifinals by Wisconsin.
The first round sites in the East are Dayton, San Jose, Austin, and Lexington. The full East Regional bracket of the 2013 NCAA Tournament is as follows:
