CIT Tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: 1st round begins Tuesday

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

32 teams begin the quest for the CIT title this week. Defending champion Mercer is not in the field.

32 teams will compete in the 2013 Tournament, which gets underway on Tuesday night. This is the fifth year of the tournament's existence, and the second time it has had a field of 32 teams; it began in 2009 as a 16-team tournament.

Eight games will be played Tuesday, followed by eight more the following night. Once those contests are completed, the remaining 16 teams will be seeded and bracketed. Every game will be played at an on-campus site.

The second round will be played from March 22-24, the quarterfinals will follow on March 26-27 and the semifinals are set for March 29-30. The championship game, which will be televised by the CBS Sports Network, is scheduled for April 2. All of the other games in the tournament can be streamed online at
