Michigan overcame a slow start to run away from the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Thursday in a 71-56 second-round victory. A pair of second-generation stars led the Wolverines to the win, as Glenn Robinson III and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 21 points apiece while combining to shoot 16-of-22 from the floor. All-American candidate Trey Burke was held to just six points on 2-of-12 shooting, but dished out seven assists in the victory.

VCU overpowered a shorthanded Akron Zips team from the outset of their second-round meeting on Thursday, jumping out to a 25-point halftime lead en route to an 88-42 thrashing of the MAC champions. The Rams forced 21 Akron turnovers and held the Zips to a 34.9-percent clip from the floor. Troy Daniels made six three-pointers as part of his 23-point performance, and Juvonte Reddic added 21 points and six rebounds for the Rams, who made half of their three-point attempts and 53.8 percent of their shots overall.

The winner of the meeting between the Wolverines and Rams will advance to the regional semifinal, which will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
