The Ohio State Buckeyes are headed to the Sweet 16 following a gritty 78-75 win over Iowa State.
With the score locked at 75-75, the Buckeyes had the ball one final time. Aaron Craft drilled a three pointer with 0.5 seconds left, ending any chance the Cyclones had at continuing their Cinderella run.
The Buckeyes really dug in on defense against one of college basketball's top offensive teams. The Cyclones averaged nearly 80 points a game and ranked eighth in the nation in offensive efficiency. ISU still came close to their season scoring average, but nearly every possession was a challenge for them.
Deshaun Thomas led Ohio State with 22 points. When the Buckeyes needed a basket in the early going, he was their go-to guy. LaQuinton Ross chipped in with 17 points, while Craft had 18 points and six assists.
Lucious scored a team-high 19 points for Iowa State. Will Clyborn had 17 points, McGee had 14 and Melvin Ejim recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
With the win, Ohio State moves on to face Arizona in the Sweet 16. These two teams will square off in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
