With the NCAA Tournament taking a few days off, college basketball's spotlight will be on three second-round NIT games Monday night, with Robert Morris looking to keep their postseason alive after a shocking win over top-seeded Kentucky in the first round.
Here's a look at Monday night's three matchups, all of which are available for streaming on WatchESPN and will be played at the home site of the higher seed.
7 p.m., No. 8 Robert Morris vs. No. 4 Providence: The Colonials already had their moment: they knocked off Kentucky in a strange game in Pittsburgh due to the NCAA using Rupp Arena for the NCAA Tournament. Anything from here on out is just gravy for the NEC regular season champs. Ed Cooley's squad should be favored after going .500 in the Big East, having knocked off Charlotte behind 25 from the conference's leading scorer, Bryce Cotton.
9 p.m., No. 7 Mercer vs. No. 3 BYU: Mercer's conference-mate FGCU is having a lot of fun in the NCAA Tournament, while the Bears are relegated to this event after losing to the Eagles in the Atlantic Sun final. They'll try to make a run of their own after knocking off No. 2 Tennessee, 75-67, behind a career-high 25 points from Travis Smith in the first round. BYU moved on behind 37 points by Tyler Haws in a 90-79 win over Washington.
10 p.m., ESPNU, No. 5 Louisiana Tech vs. No. 1 Southern Miss: The Bulldogs went 16-2 in the WAC, while the Golden Eagles were pretty much the only team in the C-USA that had a chance against Memphis. They lost in double-overtime in the conference finals, and now are trying to prove they were worthy of an NCAA Tournament spot. Eighth-seeded Charleston Southern made it close against them in their first round game, though, as Southern Miss only won, 78-71.
