After Maryland punched its ticket to the NIT Final Four on Tuesday, three more schools will advance on Wednesday night. It may not be what these teams envisioned for themselves at the start of the year, but a postseason championship could mean a lot for these programs moving forward.
At 7 p.m. ET, the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers will welcome in No. 3 Iowa. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and streamed online through WatchESPN. Look for UVA sharp-shooter Joe Harris to have a big game as the Cavs play their final home game of the season.
At 8 p.m, another top seed, Southern Miss, will host BYU on ESPNU. The game will also be available online through WatchESPN. The Golden Eagles really like to pack it in on defense and know how to close out a game down the stretch with their guard-heavy lineup.
The nightcap at 9 p.m. will pit No. 2 seed Baylor against No. 4 Providence. ESPN2 will televise the action, with the game also being streamed live. The Bears were one of the more disappointing teams in college basketball this season, although they have the talent to win the NIT. Senior point guard Pierre Jackson is very tough to stop, averaging nearly 20 points and 6.7 assists per game.
There is no national radio for these games, although the local flagship stations and their affiliates will call the action.
Here is an updated look at the NIT bracket.
