CAA Tournament 2013 bracket: Reduced field to compete for NCAA berth

Rafael Suanes-USA TODAY Sports

This year's CAA tournament won't exactly be a perfect representation of the league that competed against each other during the season.

NCAA violations and conference realignment have both reared their ugly heads on the CAA tournament this year, reducing the 11-team league's conference tournament to seven.

The Towson Tigers, who finished second in the league's regular-season standings, and the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks are both ineligible to participate in any postseason play after failing to meet required APR scores.

The Georgia State Panthers, who finished tied for fifth during the season, and the Old Dominion Monarchs are both ineligible from the league tournament because the NCAA bans schools from participating in conference tournaments if a school has already announced plans to join a new conference the following year. Georgia State will join the Sun Belt Conference next season, and Old Dominion is joining Conference USA.
