The Belmont Bruins pushed their conference record to 14-2 this week to secure a No. 1 seed in the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. They won the East division of the conference, the Murray State Racers won the West with a 10-6 record, and both will receive byes in the tournament until the semifinal round.
The tournament opens on Wednesday with a game between No. 5 Morehead State and No. 8 seed Tennessee-Martin. No. 4 seed Tennessee State, which earned a bye through the first round, will face the winner in the quarterfinal round. The winner from there will play Belmont in the semifinals.
On the other branch of the bracket, No. 6 Southeast Missouri will go head-to-head against No. 7 seed Eastern Illinois on Wednesday. A day later, the winner will face No. 3 seed Eastern Kentucky in the quarterfinals. Murray State will await the winner of that quarterfinal game.
The Ohio Valley Championship game will air on ESPN2 on Saturday.
