Sun Belt Conference basketball standings 2013: Middle Tennessee completes stampede through Sun Belt

Frederick Breedon

The Blue Raiders' six-point loss two months ago was the only thing between them and a perfect conference season.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders wrapped up their near-perfect run through the Sun Belt Conference with a pair of comfortable wins last week to close out the regular season, finishing with a 19-1 record and an active 16-game win streak headed toward the league tournament.

The Blue Raiders won a pair of road games last week at the Troy Trojans (66-56 on Thursday) and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (70-62 on Saturday). Middle Tennessee State has not lost since a 66-60 loss at the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Jan. 3. Their only other losses this season were against the No. 8 Florida Gators, at the Akron Zips (who are receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25), and at the Belmont Bruins, who are also receiving votes and just wrapped up their first Ohio Valley Conference championship in their first year in the league.

Middle Tennessee won the East Division by five games over the South Alabama Jaguars. Arkansas State won the West Division by a game over the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans.
