West Coast Conference basketball standings 2013: Gonzaga eyes more perfection

USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs search for perfection in conference play as they eye a West Coast Conference tournament championship to tack onto their regular season title.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs, owners of a perfect 16-0 record in conference play, can add to their stellar season with a championship victory in the 2013 West Coast Conference Tournament. As the No. 1 seed, they have a bye until the semifinal round.

No. 2 seed Saint Mary's also holds a bye through the quarterfinals after the Gaels posted a 14-2 record in WCC play this year.

The nine-team tournament opens on Wednesday with an 8-9 matchup of Portland and Loyola Marymount. The play-in game winner will then take on No. 5 seed in the second round on Thursday. The victor of the second-round game will advance to the Friday quarterfinals, where No. 4 Santa Clara awaits, and the winner of that game will play the Bulldogs in the semifinal round on Saturday.

In the other half of the WCC bracket, No. 6 San Diego and No. 7 Pepperdine kick off the second round on Thursday. The BYU Cougars await the winner in the quarterfinal round, and Saint Mary's will play the quarterfinal winner in the semifinals on Saturday.

The championship game is set for Monday, March 11.
