The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament is set to begin Wednesday afternoon as the top eight schools battle at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.
The OVC features quite a few squads that could give a higher-seeded team some problems once the NCAA Tournament rolls around. The Belmont Bruins, who are the No. 1 seed this week, are the only team from the Ohio Valley with a slight chance of earning an at-large bid to the Big Dance. Currently ranked 39th on Kenpom's efficiency rankings, the Bruins are considered the favorites to cut down the nets.
Belmont and Murray State will have double-byes for the first two rounds after winning their respective divisions. Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State, the No. 3 and 4 seeds, have one bye round. Morehead State, Southeast Missouri, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee-Martin will have to win four days in a row if they hope to be OVC champions.
Looking for a star player to watch? Look no further than Murray State's Isaiah Canaan, who averaged nearly 22 points a game this season.
The first round and quarterfinals will be streamed live through the Ohio Valley Conference Digital Network. The semifinals will be shown on ESPNU and ESPN3, while the championship on Saturday will be televised on ESPN2.
Last year, Murray State barely edged Tennessee State, 54-52, to win the title.
