After three rounds, the CIT is down to the final four teams vying for the championship in the tournament dedicated to highlighting mid-major squads, with both semifinal matchups set.
Let's take a look at the games left on the schedule, both of which will be played Saturday. After the two semifinals, the bracket will be reseeded again as it has after every round with the team the selection committee determines to be better earning home court advantage for Monday's final. Both games will be streamed live at watchcollegeinsider.com.
Saturday, March 30, 5 p.m: Evansville Aces (21-14, 10-8 MVC) vs. East Carolina Pirates (21-12, 9-7 C-USA)
Evansville is led by Colt Ryan, who hung 39 points on Canisius in an 84-83 win in the quarterfinals, as the 6'5 senior who averages 20.4 points per game could see his career with the Aces end every game. The Pirates have a senior leader as well, Maurice Kemp, who averages 18.8 points and 7.9 boards per game. He had 20 in a relatively easy win over Loyola (Maryland).
Saturday, March 30, 8 p.m: Weber State Bobcats (29-6, 18-2 Big Sky) vs. Northern Iowa Panthers (21-14, 11-7 MVC)
Could two MVC teams make it to the finals? Ben Jacobsen's squad hopes so, and after their best point output of the season against a Division I opponent in a 90-77 win over Bradley, they're clicking at the right time. They'll have to stop Weber State's shooting combo of Davion Berry and Scott Bamforth, each of whom takes a lot of threes and hits over 40 percent. They combined to go 7-for-14 from behind the arc in a quarterfinals win over Oral Roberts.
