The NCAA has announced its college basketball All-American team for the 2012-13 season. There aren't many major surprises here, and although most of these players were sent home from the tournament early, they were still recognized for their outstanding seasons.
As a fun exercise, let's compare this to the AP's preseason team. Indiana's Cody Zeller was the runaway favorite to win National Player of the Year, but in the end he didn't even make the first team. Ohio State's Deshaun Thomas is another high-profile player who just missed the cut. Meanwhile, Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk finds his way on the team after little preseason hype.
Here's the All-American first team:
Guard: Trey Burke, Michigan (18.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 6.8 apg)
Guard: Victor Oladipo, Indiana (13.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.1 apg)
Forward: Doug McDermott, Creighton (23.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg)
Forward: Otto Porter, Georgetown (16.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg)
Forward: Kelly Olynyk, Gonzaga (17.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg)
