The Louisville Cardinals will play for a National Championship, and this tie-up is a big reason why.
They were up by three with under ten seconds left in the National Semifinals, and Russ Smith had one free throw that could seal the game.
But that shot hit the back iron, and Wichita State's Ron Baker came down with it. It appeared that the Shockers would have a chance at a game-tying three, until Luke Hancock stepped in.
It was certainly a quick call, and it could very well have been a travel or a foul on Hancock, but the tie-up gave the ball back to the Cardinals on the alternating possession with under seven seconds to play. Hancock's heads-up attempt at the ball may have won the game for Louisville, which now advances to the championship game Monday night.
