Colorado vs. Oregon State final score: Buffs topple Beavers, 64-58

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Spor

Colorado won its Pac-12 season debut over a sloppy Oregon State team.

The No. 20 Colorado Buffaloes out-muscled the Oregon St. Beavers on Thursday night, forcing 17 turnovers en route to a 64-58 win in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Askia Booker had four steals, and joined fellow Buffs Jaron Hopkins and Josh Scott with 13 points apiece in the contest.

Colorado's backcourt was its spark, riding Booker and Spencer Dinwiddie on both ends of the floor. Booker hit all six of his free throws despite a cold shooting night, and Dinwiddie chipped in nine points and five assists. Most importantly, the pair of juniors took care of the basketball, leading the Buffs' offense into just seven total turnovers.

For Oregon State, Roberto Nelson dropped 23 points on 5-of-14 shooting. The senior guard kept the Beavers in the game behind his frequent trips to the line, where he hit all ten of his free-throw attempts. Forward a Devon Collier added eight points and eight rebounds in the losing effort.

Next up for Colorado is No. 10 Oregon, who will come to Boulder for a raucous showdown on Sunday.
