Nick Johnson dropped 24 points as No. 1 Arizona rallied past Washington on Saturday, 71-62. Johnson and freshman Aaron Gordon combined for 23 points in the second half to avoid the upset against a middling Huskies team.
Gordon also added 11 rebounds to his 18 points, good for his sixth double-double of the season. The vaunted freshman was efficient on offense, shooting 8-for-11 from the floor. The California native is now averaging 12 points and nearly eight rebonds per game.
Arizona dominated at the free throw line, shooting 21-26 from the charity stripe. Washington managed just 12 attempts, though it hit 10 of them. The Huskies were in foul trouble all game, with Shawn Kemp Jr. fouling out and Perris Blackwell finishing the game with four fouls.
Now 15-0, the Wildcats will now take their undefeated mark on the road. They will travel to Southern California to play UCLA and USC in the next eight days, their first road games in Pac-12 play.
