Travell Dixon, an elite cornerback out of Eastern Arizona Community College, has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, per SB Nation's Roll Bama Roll.
Dixon picked from three finalists: Alabama, Florida State and Mississippi State.
Dixon won't be guaranteed a starting position with the Crimson Tide, Seminoles or Bulldogs, but he will have a great chance to compete for one.
A 6'2", 200-pound cornerback is rare indeed. Dixon's abilities are readily apparent in the highlight film below. He can play press coverage and physically bully opposing receivers. That's standard for a corner this size, but what makes Dixon special is his ability to turn and run after the initial bullying. Dixon's instincts look good as well. He attacks the football well, can turn and run, and uses his length to his advantage. Dixon looks equally adept at playing man and zone. He could be an excellent asset in a cover-two scheme.
Alabama can't wait to get Dixon in its secondary. He'll compete for a starting spot immediately for the Tide, as Alabama plays a lot of nickel defense.
