Defensive end Mario Edwards is not too high on the Oklahoma Sooners after his recent visit.
Florida State commitment Mario Edwards, the nation's top defensive end out of Texas, apparently did not enjoy his recent visit to Oklahoma:
"Talking to some of the (current OU) players, no one had a lot of positive things to say about OU," Edwards said. "It was more, like, negative."
Additionally, Edwards said, he wasn't thrilled with the "vibe" of Norman.
"It was a real small town with really no social life there," he said. "After football season, you want to be somewhere you can socialize and all that stuff." - ESPiN Insider ($)
Oklahoma has had a lot of transfers lately, and apparently Edwards got mixed in with some of the malcontents.
SB Nation's Oklahoma site Crimson and Cream Machine had this to say about the news:
While things can change sometimes by the hour in the recruiting game, after these comments it's virtually impossible to envision any scenario where Edwards would ever commit to OU. Which at a position of need like DE is for 2012 and with an elite recruit like Edwards is a big ol' **** sandwich with a little over a month to go before National Signing Day.
Oklahoma was thought to be the strongest contender to take Edwards from the 'Noles, though FSU insiders were confident Edwards would stick with the Seminoles.
Edwards is expected to visit LSU, and has already visited Texas. Most don't believe Texas is a serious contender to flip Edwards.
Edwards indicated to Noles 247 that Texas might be more in this than originally thought.
A visit to LSU could change things, but as of now, the 'Noles continue to be in great shape to hold on to the top defensive end in the country.
