Cal lost defensive line coach and ace recruiter Tosh Lupoi to Washington, setting off a recruiting frenzy on both sides of the move.
West Coast recruiting legend Tosh Lupoi is making his break from the California Golden Bears to the Washington Huskies, where a three-fold salary increase awaits thanks to UW's cut of that new Pac-12 media deal. Multiple top players, Cal commits and otherwise, have expressed shock about the move, with Bears commit Shaq Thompson going so far as to say UW is now tied for his allegiances.
The mood is bleak at California Golden Blogs, where in about two hours the comment total has raced past what was produced during the entire Packers game on Sunday (the Packers are quarterbacked by favorite son Aaron Rodgers, you see). University priorities are questioned, recruiting commitments are assessed, nausea is claimed and one commenter would give up the baseball program for good to bring Lupoi back.
Huskies fans at UW Dawg Pound, however, just want to see what Lupoi can do in two weeks. Make no mistake, Washington fans are now raring to affix purple-and-gold check marks to any and all Cal recruits. You'll be astounded to learn Dawgs fans have no qualms about the move coming so close to signing day.
Elsewhere around the Pac-12, UCLA fans sense a SoCal opportunity, and Oregon fans note how far north the conference's balance of power swung this offseason.
