Dana Holgorsen is trying to upgrade the level of talent at West Virginia. And it's definitely needed with the pending move to the Big XII. As I recently wrote in 'College Football Recruiting Rankings: Which Classes Are Championship Quality?':
West Virginia is taking in a huge class (27 non-kicker/punter high schoolers) that is lacking in talent (only 8 percent are rated four-stars or better). Will West Virginia struggle to win the BIG XII if it doesn't increase its talent level? Probably. But Mountaineer fans shouldn't panic. WVU does a great job of getting academically questionable recruits into school. They're probably the BCS-conference team that does this the best.
The Smoking Musket, SB Nation's excellent West Virginia site, has a look at just how Holgorsen is trying to do that. In the article, TSM details the big crop of recruits West Virginia brought in over the weekend, including Joel Caleb and Garrett Hope (a new commitment). TSM also discusses the loss of cornebrack Da'Quan Davis, who switched to Penn State over the weekend.
Click on over to The Smoking Musket to see the remaining needs for the Mountaineers, and just how Holgorsen will try to fill them with top-tier talent.
