Mike Davis is expected to sign and fax his NLI to South Carolina on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day. When Davis told his 4,000+ Twitter followers that he was de-committing from the Florida Gators and committing to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, there was some understandable grumbling. Of those followers, many of them were doing so because they were Florida fans.
"A lot of them were like, 'We respect your decision, you have to do what's best for you,'" said Davis, the No. 62 player on the ESPNU 150. "But most of it was negative, people taking it the wrong way, attacking me. "
Such is life these days for high profile college football recruits, especially those who take on the limelight. Attracting Twitter followers and making bold proclamations about commitments might sound fun, but there's a downside since you're always going to upset more people than you make happy.
