Where will defensive end recruit Channing Ward commit Thursday night on ESPN?
Channing Ward, one of the top defensive ends in the country, is set to commit to an SEC school tonight on ESPN during the Under Armour All-America Game (7:30 p.m. ET). Ward holds offers from many SEC schools, including Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama and Auburn.
Ward plays for Aberdeen (MS), and his excellent play off the edge at 6'3" and 250 pounds is the reason he has so many top college offers. Ward can be inconsistent, but when he plays with good technique, few high school offensive linemen can handle him. And unlike some high school ends, Ward doesn't ignore the run.
Most services have Ward as a four-star prospect, with a few even awarding him a five-star rating. All agree that he is one of the top defensive ends in the country. His frame also sets up nicely to hold another 10 or 15 pounds after a year or two in a college weight program.
