Deon Bush, one of the top defensive backs in the country, has committed to the Miami Hurricanes. Bush stars for Miami's Columbus High School. Bush holds over 20 BCS offers, including Alabama, Auburn and Miami.
Bush is a lanky defender at 6'1" and 180 pounds. While some believe he can play cornerback at the next level, he is a much better fit at safety.
Bush has very good closing speed at his safety position. He can drift in centerfield and quickly get to the sideline. He shows good recognition from the safety position and diagnoses well. Bush also has an impressive vertical and can really go up to get the football.
There are questions about Bush's ability to play against the run, because he is quite skinny and not very powerful. Further, he doesn't exactly have a frame that looks able to hold a lot of additional muscle. And because he is rather high-cut, Bush can sometimes struggle in man coverage.
