Nick Dawson is expected to start immediately for Louisville.
Nick Dawson, a top inside linebacker recruit, has committed to the Louisville Cardinals. Dawson stars for Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology (Charlotte, NC). Dawson also held offers from Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
Dawson has an impressive frame for an inside linebacker prospect at 6'3" and 235 pounds. His biggest strength is obviously his power. He excels at taking on blocks, shedding them and tackling the runner. Dawson isn't as good in coverage, but he certainly doesn't struggle in that area, either. He'll likely not be running with slot receivers down the field, but if used correctly, he will be able to be effective against the pass.
Most services rate Dawson as a four-star prospect, and all rank him as one of the top-15 inside linebackers nationally.
Dawson officially visited Louisville on December 16th, and is expected to play immediately for Charlie Strong's defense.
