Marcell Harris sets decision date: where will top safety recruit commit?

Marcell Harris - Bud Elliott (SB Nation)

Harris is one of the top safety recruits in the country.

We will soon know the school of choice for one of the top safeties in the country.

On Nov. 16, Marcell Harris of Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips will make his college announcement, he revealed Wednesday to the Orlando Sentinel.

"I took four official visits ... Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State and Florida. I don't think there is going to be a fifth one. ... I think I'll have a decision by November 16th," said Harris, who was expected to visit Clemson this weekend but now looks to be zeroing in on the four schools he mentioned. "I don't have a leader, but the coaches I have been talking to ... they know how I feel about my situation that I'm in, and what's going on and what's going to come."

Bud's take: Harris has the body of a linebacker, and I initially thought that would be his eventual position. But having had the chance to see him several times over the summer, and again this season, Harris has changed my mind. He has shown the ability to play safety in the right system at the collegiate level. All of the schools recruiting Harris will be able to use him in a way that hides his weaknesses.

I expect Harris to choose Florida and be an excellent defender, just as his father was for the Gators more than a decade ago.
