Caleb Benenoch nearing decision following Baylor visit

Last weekend, 2013 Katy (TX) Seven Lakes offensive lineman Caleb Benenoch took his official visit to Waco to see the Baylor Bears take down the Oklahoma State Cowboys in what could have been his final trip before making his decision.

The 6-6, 320-pounder expects to declare a choice by the end of the week and is down to four finalists -- Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas, and UCLA. If he has a leader, he has not been willing to share that information with the public in recent weeks.

There was a major appeal to his trip to Waco, however:

Indeed, UCLA lost to Stanford on his recent official, Texas lost to West Virginia back in October, and Oklahoma was taken down by Kansas State in late September.

Of course, wins and losses on visits are rarely the determining factor in recruitments, so Benenoch shared his perspective on his four finalists as he nears a final decision.

After taking in Baylor, Benenoch sounded impressed with multiple aspects ($) of the program:

I've always wanted to go up there and get a more in depth look. I got to talk to some people from the law school which is one of the best in the country. I got to hang out with coach Kaz, the strength coach, who I absolutely love. The things he does with the players is absolutely amazing. I got to spend a lot of time with coach Clements who is one of the best offensive line coaches.

Even with seven offensive linemen committed in the 2013 class, Benenoch believes he still has a shot at early playing time ($) in Westwood with senior guard Jeff Baca graduating:

They want me to come in and play. When I get on campus I'd get in shape, learn the offense and they'd expect me to compete for that spot. It's on my shoulders if I choose to go to UCLA whether I get that spot or not.

Asked about Texas, Benenoch spoke to Rivals once again about the school being his childhood favorite. However, that hasn't been enough recently for the big prospect to keep them as his public leader. Meanwhile, Oklahoma is considered to be behind the top group of Baylor, Texas, and UCLA.

With days until the expected announcement from Benenoch, there's still a significant amount of mystery surrounding his ultimate destination -- if he's made up his mind already, there's no way of telling from any information made public.
