Eldridge Massington makes an over-the-shoulder catch at The Opening last summer - Bud Elliott (SB Nation)
The four-star prospect is looking to quickly set up visits so he can enroll in January.
It was a busy day for 2013 West Mesquite (TX) wide receiver Eldridge Massington on Tuesday. First, he ended his longtime commitment to the USC Trojans after he was asked to put off his enrollment until June. Then, he was in contact with multiple schools once again interested in his services.
It all happened in the course of one day, but Massington is having to re-connect with former recruiters, as unlike many pledges, he actually shut down his recruitment when he pledged to the Trojans back in May.
Still, it seems as if those efforts were successful, as Massington told 247Sports that he was in contact ($) with Alabama, Arizona St., Tennessee, and UCLA. He said that Michigan was also supposed to get in contact with him, while LSU is a school he has not spoken with, but does have interest in.
A visit appears to be in the works to Alabama this weekend, a school that finished second for his services ($) back in the spring:
I'm interested in Alabama a whole lot. When I committed to SC, I kind of shut the recruiting thing down because I wanted to show my loyalty and stuff like that. I talked with Coach Groh a little bit after I committed.
"Bama was my second choice after USC. That was an offer I was hoping to get if I didn't get the USC offer. I like the way they run their offense with the pro-style concepts. I like Nick Saban and the way he coaches. Everybody tells me he's a hardnosed guy and that's what I like.
Since Massington wants to make a decision in the next two weeks so that he can enroll early, which remains a major priority for him as he seeks to continue his rehab from the torn ACL he suffered back in July at a Tennessee camp under professional care, the 6-3, 205-pounder will have to schedule any other visits quickly.
