Joel Caleb, one of the top athlete recruits in the country, has committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies. He stars for Midlothian (Va.) Clover Hill High school. Caleb holds offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, North Carolina Florida State and Clemson, along with 20 other BCS offers, but narrowed his list to Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Ohio State before deciding on the Hokies.
At 6'2" and 210 pounds, Caleb is a special player. He plays quarterback and defensive back for Midlothian, but will likely play with the ball in his hands at the college level.
And for good reason. Caleb has excellent strength for his size. He possesses excellent short-area quickness and while he is not a speed merchant, he does reach top gear relatively quickly. Caleb has a good feel for the game, and his combination of fluidity and toughness makes him fun to watch. The Hokies will definitely try to get the ball in Caleb's hands as much as possible, though he could also star at defensive back.
