Josh Harvey-Clemons, a top linebacker recruit, has committed to Georgia. Harvey-Clemons plays for Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes High School, and holds offers from more than 30 schools, including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee and USC. Clemons is rated four or five-stars by the major recruiting services.
Harvey-Clemons stands 6'5" and weighs about 200 pounds. He's not likely an instant-impact player on defense, due to his lack of bulk. That he received such a high rating as a developmental prospect, however, certainly says something about his athleticism and potential.
Via ESPNU, you can see Harvey-Clemons surrounded by family members representing various local fan bases. He was clearly excited about getting to use props in his announcement, but probably should have prepared his setup better. Important stuff.
Harvey-Clemons played all over the field for Lowndes High, including receiver, quarterback, safety, linebacker and defensive end. Once he settles in as an outside linebacker and gets into a college strength program, he should develop quickly. Until then, Harvey-Clemons could be a standout on special teams, receive some snaps on passing downs, or perhaps even redshirt.
