Top linebacker Kwon Alexander is headed to LSU.
Kwon Alexander, a top linebacker recruit, has committed to the LSU Tigers. Alexander plays for Oxford (Al.) High School. He holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, and UCLA, but narrowed his list to Alabama, Auburn and LSU. Alabama was thought not to have room for Alexander in this class, as scholarship numbers were tight.
Additionally, Alexander seemed better suited to play in LSU or Auburn's defensive schemes, as they rely on speed, as opposed to the Crimson Tide, which is more of a power and size-based defense. Alexander is 6'2" and 210 pounds. He tore his ACL during the 2011 season and missed out on participating in the Under Armour All-America Game. Alexander shows excellent athleticism and should be a candidate to play early and often on special teams, assuming he comes back healthy.
