Tracy Howard, long coveted as one of the Sunshine State's finest prospects by Florida's big three schools, has finally picked one of them. Howard committed to Florida during a National Signing Day special on ESPNU, choosing to sign with his hometown Miami Hurricanes over Florida and Florida State.
Howard, one of the top cornerbacks in the country, is out of Miramar High School (Fla.), and holds four or five stars from most of the major recruiting services. He stands 5'11", weighs in at 180 pounds, and has more than held his own against some of the top competition in the country as part of Miramar's "Dark Side" defense.
Howard has excellent man coverage skills and could be an early starter for Miami. He's also a major symbolic get for the Hurricanes: Will Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher tried to dip into the renowned "state of Miami" to snag Howard's commitment, but a strong late push from Al Golden's staff swayed him to stay home.
