E.J. Levenberry is one of the top linebacker recruits in the country. Out of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va., the 6-foot-3-inch, 227-pounder projects as an inside linebacker. He holds offers from Alabama, Michigan, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Ohio State and most other major football programs in the country. Levenberry previously played for Dematha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md.
What makes Levenberry so coveted as a prospect? Have a look at his new highlight tape, showing clips from his junior season.
Levenberry displays good straight-line speed, but is also adept at moving laterally. He has the size of an inside backer and the agility of a decent outside linebacker prospect. And Levenberry breaks on the ball pretty well when in zone coverage. Much of his highlight is him timing the snap of the opposition and rushing into the backfield. While it does showcase his downhill style, that won't exactly translate at the next level. Still, Levenberry's combination of power, agility and instincts make him one of the better inside linebacker recruits I've reviewed in the 2013 class. There are few inside 'backer prospects with Levenberry's skills.
