Texas reportedly lands a quarterback recruit with great physical tools.
Tyrone Swoopes, one of the top quarterback recruits in the country, has reportedly committed to the Texas Longhorns, according to Geoff Ketchum. Swoopes stars for Whiteright (Tx.) High School and also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Stanford.
Swoopes stands 6'5" and weighs 220 pounds. He is rated four stars or better by most of the major services. Some have even called Swoopes the top player in the state.
Although we're still working to confirm with the young man, we've learned the state's No.1 prospect Tyrone Swoopes has committed to Texas.

While the competition he faces is not the same as faced by Vince Young, the comparisons to the former Texas quarterback are unavoidable. Swoopes is a mobile quarterback who will make a lot of plays with his feet. His throwing does need a lot of work, but the physical talents are undeniable. Offers from Notre Dame and Stanford are also encouraging, from an athletic standpoint.
Texas recruiting expert Wescott Eberts shares similar thoughts on Swoopes:
Tyrone Swoopes is a big-time athlete at 6-5, 220 pounds w immense upside as both a runner and a passer.
