Christian Hackenberg, a top quarterback recruit, has committed to Penn State, according to numerous reports. Hackenberg stars for Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy. He also claims offers from Alabama, Florida, Miami, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Hackenberg is Penn State's first recruit of the 2013 cycle.
Hackenberg is rated four stars by most of the national recruiting services. He stands 6'4" and weighs 215 pounds. As you would expect with that size as a high school junior, Hackenberg is a pocket passer. He has a good arm, as you can see in his ridiculously long (17 minutes!) highlight tape. But that doesn't mean he is immobile, as he is able to scramble around and avoid the rush.
Penn State has a lot of obstacles to overcome under new coach Bill O'Brien, but getting a stud quarterback recruit like Hackenberg to lead the class is a great start.
