At only 15 years old, Jacques Patrick more than holds his own against some of the top recruits in the state of Florida.
It is not often that we profile recruits just finishing up their freshman year. But for a select few prospects, it is warranted. Jacques Patrick is one of those recruits.
I recently had the opportunity to check out Patrick in person at the Orlando NUC Five-Star Showcase. Out of Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek High School, Patrick stands 6'2 and weighs 203 pounds. He just turned 15 in January. Last season, while playing for East River, Patrick rushed for more than 1,500 yards.
At the NUC Showcase, Patrick showed off solid athleticism. He's quick and clearly powerful, though he is still learning to play the game.
Schools are not allowed to recruit freshmen, but when the time comes, the question is not if Patrick will be recruited, but rather, at what position. Patrick is already on the upper end of running back size. And with his upright running style, it is a good assumption that he will outgrow the position. But that is not a bad problem to have.
