Erik Bunte, a top offensive tackle recruit, committed to the UCLA Bruins late Tuesday night according to a report by Scout.com. Bunte stars for Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Catholic High School. UCLA was the first school to offer Bunte, though he had also received interest from Oregon, USC, Duke, Auburn, Notre Dame, Boston College and California.
Bunte stands 6'7" and is listed at 310 pounds, though the 310 number seems quite suspect. The film available on Bunte is extremely limited, and it would be unfair to Bunte and you, the reader, for me to give a scouting report based on such a small sample set. Bunte is rated four-stars by Scout, Rivals and 247sports, which means he is likely quite good.
Here's a snippet from Scout's interview with Bunte:
"I know I had said I wanted to wait and go through the whole process, but really today, I just thought there is nothing that compared to the Bruin family and nothing that measured up to UCLA," said Bunte. "I believe in the team and I believe in Coach (Jim) Mora and Coach (Adrian) Klemm so I called them up and committed to UCLA. I'm so excited."
This is another major win for Adrian Klemm, who ended the 2012 recruiting cycle on a tear and looks to be continuing that early in the 2013 class.
